A difficult decision was made early in the autumn of 2008 to close the Food Cupboard at Holy Trinity Cathedral. This had been an extremely successful activity for many years in the parish in conjunction with the weekly Thursday Morning Breakfast. However, the average attendance had increased in recent months from 20 to 30 persons to 50 to 60 and current resources could not sustain such demands.
In the light of shared ministry in New Westminster the parish is now supporting a similar ministry at St. Barnabas Church. Parishioners are invited to support St. Barnabas directly or continue to bring non-perishable food items to Holy Trinity Cathedral and we will arrange to transfer the items to St. Barnabas. Clean plastic grocery bags are also welcomed.
We are grateful for all the generosity provided in the past by donations of food, money and time and we pray that St. Barnabas with all our help will be able to provide this vital support to our community for many years to come.
